I was diagnosed with ischemic colitis 3 weeks ago and am wondering if it could come back again. I was in hospital for 8 days with the first 4 days passing only blood.

Ischaemic colitis is usually caused by lack of blood supply to the bowels. Did they find the cause as to why it happened? to avoid re-occurrence it may be necessary to take medication called vasodilators to widen the arteries to the tissues that surround and serve blood and oxygen to the bowel.

Thanks the doctor didn't put me on anything. I was in hospital for 8 days and the doctor said everything was good. My family doctor was the one to tell me about the colitis. Now I don't know what to do
