Day 15: I've previously written about running The Glenlivet 10K race. It's now on my blog: swanscot.wordpress.com/2013...
Day 16: Rest(?) day after running. Started off well with a yoga session OUTSIDE in my garden! Yay, for Spring. That evening I went along to my first ever Swiss Ball exercise class. Boy, did that trainer work us hard. Even my quads, which you'd think were used to exercise, were screaming!
Day 17: Regular tempo run; today shortened from 40 mins to 30 as it was so very windy I was almost blown off my feet!
Day 18: A quick 5K run between heavy rain showers. I usually run in the morning, but actually enjoyed this early evening run.
Day 19: Fast walk in the local forest in the early evening.
Day 20: I enjoyed a fantastic 13 km run from 'the sea to the loch' along the Caledonian Canal tow path. Superb run Blogged here: swanscot.wordpress.com/2013...
Day 21: Local, short cycle and home to delicious Thai chicken curry as prepared by my son's girlfriend.
Body Report: Still feeling good. I've lost a couple of pounds and feel much more toned even though I've not changed my food intake from my usual healthy diet.
Photographic report:
More photos uploaded to my Flickr account - '5x50 Challenge 2013' album, with apologies for the low quality of the photos taken on my running days as they were (mainly) taken on my iPhone: (newest photos to beginning of set)
Yes, I'm looking forward to it! I've one more practise hill run to do this wedk as part of my training; I'll do it tomorrow or Tuesday so I'm not too tired on saturday.
Just had a look at your canal blog and it looks even more amazing than I imagined when I looked at your Garmin for that run. I'm definately gonna have to try some countryside runs, might pick one up in Derbyshire when I next see my parents.
It was a lovely off-road run. Having run both ends of the Caledonian Canal now I want to see if I can create 15-20km sections for along the lochs. It would be fun to run the entire length of the Great Glen fault line over the summer.
It is a beautiful photo. Well done with the swiss ball. It's my favourite thing now (apart from running of course!) But it reaches muscles never located before and strengthens the ones you thought you had.
Wow, you're doing so well with the challenge, swanscot! That's such a beautiful photo, it must be a real pleasure to run along there. Keep up the good work! And ah, swiss ball. Like you, I thought at least my leg muscles would be okay
Day 16 sounds fab too, I love outdoor yoga, am just off to mow the lawn and do the first garden tidy of spring, so that I can do some yoga and have breakfast out there this week, if this sunshine keeps up!
Well done on all your hard work, you must be superfit by now!
So do I. My back lawn is all bumpy with long grass, moss and sunken bits from moles tunnelling under, and I often look longingly at photos/video of people practising yoga with their mats on nice flat decks, but it's still great to be outside.
For the four summers I worked seasonally at Glenmore in the Cairgorms National Park and stayed at the campsite at Loch Morlich. I'd go to the beach at the lochside for my morning yoga session before work. It was idyllic - until the midges came! flickr.com/photos/swan-scot...
ha ha, sounds fun, my garden is a mess, I close my eyes whilst practising yoga, I cut the grass only to not have it tickle my face when I slide through into cobra
This location, on the other hand, would be amazing to practise in. You are so lucky. I think I may have to visit you for a holiday! In fact, our yoga teacher training came to an end yesterday, I should bring my whole class up for some R&R - do you do B&B?
