I live close to Kings Cross & Euston station. It's a very built up and busy area. I've noticed that constant traffic, road crossing and groups of hoodies hanging about is really quite distracting, So for my run last night (week 4, run1) I decided to use a stretch of the Regents canal. There's still a few hoodies hanging around even down there, I was even asked whilst running if I want to buy weed! In the main though it's a whole lot more peaceful.
Couple of personal things I learned last night. First, I don't like listening to music whilst running, it puts me off and reduces my awareness of what's going on around me. Second, it was raining, now I don't mind that in the least, it made me feel almost manly lol! But my Climacool trainers were instantly soaked through and I really didn't like that! They're like sponges. So I've decided that within the next few weeks I'll be visiting a sports shop to pick up something a little more weather proof (quite fancy the Inov8 313's).
There's another reason why I'd like something a little more robust. I've decided that when I'm able to do the 5k plus. I'll be taking my runs on Hampstead Heath. It's only a 15 minute drive away, and the grassy hills, forest and bridle tracks really appeal to me.
Well that's my lot, I'm off to the West End now my son is hitting double figures on Monday, time to do some birthday present shopping.
Good luck all, keep safe.
