The most fantastic dawn chorus is calling me to get out there... but I can't. Stuck in bed with a high temperature since Friday pm...

It was that 14 hour day at work on Friday that did it... whoever said teachers have it easy?

I'd finished week 6 the night before. Found it quite a slog as my left leg started aching. Still, completed the run and watched the sun start to sink behind the sea while Laura said I could consider myself a proper runner... but no runner's high this time. :-(

A forced rest period of 4 days now...Desperate to get going again. Have been consoling myself by reading everyone's blogs... all that snow! What heroes to be out there.

The rest has done my leg some good as the thigh pain has almost gone, though I'll be getting my gait/posture analysed as soon as possible. Doctor recommended someone local. He wasn't too happy about the running... recommended walking, but not running. I explained I was following an NHS approved plan and thoroughly enjoying it, as well as the swimming, the Strength & Flex and the non smoking. I think he realised not to upset the apple cart. :-)

Maybe I can join you all again tomorrow and start week 7... Am I envious! Happy running.

Poor you! That must be so frustrating. Who would have thought a couple of months ago, that we would be so pissed off about not being able to run? Hope you can get out very soon. In the words of Peter Seeger, take it easy, but take it. Good luck.

:-) Thanks Sadiekit. Much appreciate your thoughts and the Seeger quote.

Hang on in there. I recieved this answer from the NHS fitness expert to my Strength&Fitness blog this morning:

Best to rest if you're under the weather, here's why:

nhs.uk/Livewell/fitness...

Found it soothed my impatience (section about exercising with a fever). :-)

Oh how horrid. I've just had a few weeks off from injury and as I had only just graduated I was very worried re losing fitness in that period, but had bearly lost any and have come back to it easily enough.

Hope you feel better soon, maybe get someone to bring you a copy of 'runners world' magazine and a copy of 'born to run' or 'feet in the clouds' and be inspired! :-)

If only... I'm an ex pat, far from home! Thank goodness for this blog and similar websites. Have been catching up on some BBC documentaries (God do I miss UK quality TV). Fully recommend this one on Youtube:

(The Men Who Made Us Fat - Episode 2/3... and the other two parts in the series).

Teachers don't have it easy (shhh don't tell anyone my whole school was closed due to a power cut today!) I have been similar recently. I hurt my back on week 6 run 3 so had a 4day break bu struggling with week 7. Tried to make th most of my afternoon off but felt awful and ok managed 10 mins of running! Think I might repeat week 6.

Power cut due to snow, by any chance? Perhaps your muscles were just too cold to run easily... Better luck next time.

Still 10 minutes are 10 minutes more than 7 weeks ago. :-)
