Just wondering if the walking counts!?? I did run1 week 7 today and actual running I covered 2.5km. With the walking it was over 3.

Just wondered what other people include or don't!

Cheers.

I didn't but then again, until I was almost finished on the programme I didn't think speed or distance was remotely important.

I didn't take a lot of notice of my distance while working through the program, my concentration was on being able to run for the time stated on the week I was on. If you manage to run 30 minutes by week 9 without stopping you have completed C25K you can then work towards the ultimate goal of running 5K in that 30 minutes. The C25K+ podcasts will help you there. I've been running now for 2.5 years and have still not managed that magic target, best time was 31:28 maybe one day I'll succeed but I'm not losing any sleep over it. Good luck for the last few runs and well done.

I count the walking. No real reason for it, other than I don't have to think about turning my Garmin on, and waiting for it to lock on before I "run".

Like oldgirl I concentrated on running for the specified times when I was doing the program - that was hard enough! It was only after I graduated that I started to work on distance & speed. I dont include the warm-up / cool-down walks as for me that skews what I'm interested in now, which is how far can I run and at what speed. Good luck with the rest of the program.

I don't count the walk - again, didn't think much about speed or time until I'd graduated. At the moment I am doing the glamorously titled Run for Fat Loss plan on Runkeeper and I have started turning that on straight away and the 'slow' 5 minute warm up is my warm up walk. Since I discovered recently that I sometimes run *slower* than I walk, it seems fair enough. (BTW Run for Fat Loss seems to be working!)

I generally keep track of how far I've gone with the walking so note my run distance as well as my total distance. No real reason, except that I like to know how close I am (or not!) to the magic 5k. I don't have any clever way of measuring the last 5 mins, so I normally just double the warm-up and subtract that from the total, on the basis that it seems somewhat unlikely that my cool-down is quicker than the warm-up!
