Anyone successfully done this? I am only on Week 3 of C25k but thinking of the future and wondering if I could actually complete 13miles? as I'm only running 3 minutes and running for 2.5hrs scares the hell out of me lol!!

There are a few of us yes!

Its all doable just take your time, increase the distance slowly. I took about a year I think, which wasn't very ambitious :-D

Best of luck.

mine will be 16 months since starting running! so even less ambitious

I'm doing this now, my hm (gnr) is in Sept which will be 1 year since my graduation of c25k. I'm happiest building gradually over a long period but have a friend who went couch to hm in 9 months. It was hard work but she did it & now does an hm every year.

I signed up to a 10k which is a not quite a half marathon but still about an hour of running. I don't think it's impossible to go straight into half marathon training. But maybe break it down to a 10k and then work towards a half marathon.

Hmm, interesting question. I'm signed up for 10K in September and beginning to think about a half marathon next year. It's definitely doable

I'd lay money on you doing one next year OldNed!

You could be right! There's a technique here isn't there, that once you start talking about it what you're really doing is acknowledging the inevitability of the little voice inside you. And once you start talking about it then it really does become inevitable. It rather sounds as though I've just done exactly that!

I've lost my response a few times so will keep this one shortish. I too find 2.5 hours scary and I've done 2 hours the last couple of weeks! If you ask me again on the afternoon of 7 April I'll tell you what its like doing a HM. It is definalty possible as a number of people on hear can testify too. This time last year I couldn't do 5k let alone 5 miles and in a matter of weeks i'll be doing 13! Yikes! Its all about building up your mileage gradually and setting yourself targets...if you want it enough you'll do it :)

Wow some inspirational posts there! I think I may complete my 5k RFL then think about a 10k then maybe think about doing more and Reading HM is in 1 years time which is nearby ;)
