From C25k to half marathon in a year

Less than A year ago I graduated and last weekend I completed my 2nd Half Marathon. It’s been quite a journey getting to this point, with some injuries along the way, but it really feels worth it - even if on some days I just wanted to give up and call it a day.

It wouldn’t have been possible without the help and support of forums like this, and the Bridge to 10k (and Marathon Running and Race Support) forums, where you can find others on the same journey as yourselves.

If you’re thinking of going further than 5k, why not look up your fellow graduates in the other forums and get involved?

Keep on running!

That's brilliant progress ! I can only hope to emulate something like it. First to get to 5k running (without including warm up and warm down walks ; ) )

Thanks for the post

A picture paints a thousand words... just look at you there! Great job and it goes to show what we can achieve, and how soon, with great support and a positive mental attitude. Thanks for inspiring us all, I’m about to embark on the path to my first HM thanks to yourself and other inspirational people on here. Yeah, I could find other people running these distances and think “I might be able to do that” and often have watching the great north run and the London marathon... but hearing reports of former C25K runners doing it changes that thought to “I can do that”

Happy running.

Congratulations and very well done. I’ve done a few 10K’s and I’m doing a 10K every Sunday at the moment and have ran past 10K a few times. Furthest distance is 14K. Don’t think I’d have any interest in a half marathon.

Fair play to you. It takes a lot of work to get to where you have been.

14k is good and a 10k each week is pretty amazing! You’ve might want to try one of the Half Marathon training plans in the Marathon forum and see how you get on?

Nice one Dave. I've still not ventured to HM distance (16k was my furthest so far), but I do aim to do so.

I echo what you say. The support and advice on here has been invaluable. The 5k distance that seemed so hard in the days of doing the programme is now the absolute shortest distance I will run. The 10k distance that to me appeared impossible just over a year ago I now run every Monday. That HM will come at some point, hopefully this year......
