Just done W7R1 and decided to leave the nice flat circuit in my local park (always running anti-clockwise on) and run on pavements and roads ... I was a little scared, mixed with thrill and excitement, it is amazing what I do for kicks these days!
It did make it easier for my mind, as lapping a circuit 10 times gets a bit monotonous but harder on my legs as paths are not even and flat. Had to run past bus and lots of teenagers but no one sniggered and no one shouted (or I was so focused I didn't hear them)
the only disappointment was Laura ... after all her praise of W6R3 she seems to have gone cold on me ... a brief goodbye ... I feel a little used by her

I was always worried about teens or chavs hurling abuse while out running...then a friend said to me that whenever she was in her car or out and saw someone running- however slow they were going- she though 'good for them' or that she wished she wasn't so lazy. I think that's true for most people, and now I don't care haha!
I am thinking of trying to run at a park to mix things up also as I run through the streets usually...did you find one more beneficial or just different?
Park is easy as flat and circular... designed as a running track, but gets boring going around and around same bit on longer runs. Street more to occupy my mind and distract me ...but road crossing and uneven pavements make it more likely to hurt myself! so think a mix is good
Good on you for running on the streets though, took me 7 weeks to pluck up the courage to do so
Congrats on starting the continuous running section, definitely recommend going and exploring on your runs and mixing up the scenery. As to Laura I ditched her (sorry Laura) at week 7 and listened to my own music and timed using a watch, not long until you get your badge now
Well done on biting the bullet! I remember my first run on the streets at w5r3 after laps round my park and never looked back! Now though if I ever do go back to run in my park I find it hard as mentally I know it's boring and that reflects itself in my legs I much prefer my urban runs! Happy running!
Yeah, running laps does sound a bit monotonous. I might be running the same route each time but at least I'm not going in circles. Have fun trying out some new places to run. For W7R2 and W7R3 I switched over to listening to an audio book on my runs. I kind of missed running to a musical beat though, so I'll listen to Laura for W8R1 and then I'll try out a playlist I'm working on.
