Life after graduation...

Well it's been 2 weeks since I graduated and I did a run on the 27th but then gave myself the first week off due to being ill/working nights/Christmas and new year. I have only just received my badge as well so I now officially feel like a graduate!

Well this year I want to get up to10k and for the first time in my life I believe i can actually do it. Today I told myself I need to go for a run as I have a looming park run that I want to get my time down for near the end of the month. But...I have an essay for my masters degree due for tomorrow and I'm only a third of the way through it! So I told myself that this essay will be done today and at whatever time I finish I will REWARD (yes, I can believe I'm using this word) myself with a run.

The bug has definitely caught on, even though I'm still not 100% I'm getting my time down little by little each time I run. I'm currently on 4.4k in 30mins and my friend said well only 600m to go and you're there, I'd never thought of it like that, in simple metres. It makes me think of the track at school (which I hated with a passion and avoided at all costs!) and it's 3/4 of that! Seems a doddle when I look at it that way. My friends and this community have been so supportive I really don't think I could have stuck to it without you all.

My news years resolutions are all fitness based really and that is very rare considering exercise was never something I wanted to do or that was expected of me (all in my first blog). I've also vowed to start something I wish I'd done ever since I was a little girl but I was just too tired to do. Ballet. Now that I have my fitness up and my confidence is slowly growing I want to dance. Now this could be a complete flop and I could have no rhythm and two left feet.

My boyfriend said I should stop doing things to please everyone else and do what makes me happy and I truly think this is it. As mentioned above I also want to be able to run 10k and then 5k comfortably in 30 mins. I would also like to lose 20lbs and hopefully be happy with my figure.

I didn't know when the motivation would come but it seems for me 2013 is the one of big changes.

Keep going guys! All of your stories are truly inspirational :)

I'm happy the badge arrived! You can do anything you set your mind to! The ballet and the 10K sound like great goals for 2013! I bet those 20# will just drop away as well! :-) Gayle

What a lovely blog, LazyMoo, so inspirational and positive. It's amazing how completing in this programme really does make you realise that a lot of things we previously thought we'd never do now seem possible. I have no doubt at all that you can achieve all your targets - go for it, you've nothing to lose and lots to gain! :)
