Signed up for my First 5k charity run.

I graduated a month a go and have been averaging 2 runs a week with 9 days off over the Christmas period. I didn't intentionally take that time off but I did cut myself some slack and enjoyed some lay-ins.

Now it's back to business and I can run for 30 minutes if I run slowly enough but haven't managed 5k yet, today I got to 4.3k and that included my cool down 5 minutes. So yesterday I signed up for the British Heart Foundations 5k in Regents Park on 9 March. I wanted a goal that was achievable and thought I would try and raise some money for charity into the bargain. Just wondered if there were any others on this forum planning to do this race?

We live too far away for me to do that race but I' d like to know how you found out about it as I' d like to do a charity run too. Is there a good website that lists them?

Hi jrwtc, I bought a copy of Womens Running this month (Feb Edition) and there was a pullout booklet with runs for the year broken down into distance from 5k through to ultra-marathons (that might take me a while yet!!). Hope you find something close to you. Is there a park run near you?
