Well how about adding a km per week to your distance?

Or increasing your speed over a set period of time.

How about B210k downloads?

I have read that the rule of thumb is to not add more than 10% to your distance each week (is that right?) so how about adding 10% each week and see how far you get? Or have a look what races there are near you and sign up for one, that'll give you something to aim towards. You could raise money for your favourite charity too.

What about signing up for a 10k race later in the year and working towards it...lots of programmes to follow or as Cazvs said just add 10% distance each week and you will be there in no time.

Well done on signing up for 10k. Who'd have thought it after all our doubts and struggling last year? I just replied to HappyHarris saying that your example and hers made me feel so guilty about not signing up for a 10k that I've gone and done just that - for Paris at the end of April. Thanks for setting a good example! Good luck on the big day.

I don't know if you remember, but I also live in France. I'm a bit daunted by all these serious French runners so put off signing up for a race too! I finally booked up for a 5k in Paris (Bois de Vincennes) at the beginning of February. I wimped out of doing 10k! I'd love to do a 10k too a bit later. The BIG PLAN is to do a half marathon in England in September.

Where have you booked to do the 10k? I seem to remember that you live quite a distance from Paris.

It is just south of Limoges in a place called Ambazac. I was going to do the 5k but it is for ladies and with the 10k I can do it with my hubby (poor soul!!)

would love to hear how you get on - good luck!!xx

Hello there. That's a coincidence because my other half's family come from Charente and we actually go quite often to Confolens (about 70 kms from Amberzac). What a lovely part of this beautiful country.

Good luck with your training and 10k. I hope you found a good training programme to suit you.

I did 10k on my own just before Christmas by following the C25K+ podcasts. And by the way your blog (and Tantrumbean's reply) made me feel sufficinetly guilty that I've gone and signed up for 10k in the Bois de Boulogne at the end of April!

Yes, next thing you know it we'll be doing marathons!! If all goes well I'm hoping to go and do a half-marathon in the UK in September. Its one you don't have to sign up for in advance so the tempation will be to duck out. The only problem(good thing?) is that I have a Marathonian brother-in-law in England who will push me on.

Get up to being able to run for 10k then vary your training. You want to be doing 3 different types of run a week. An interval run, a tempo run and a long run. Have a read of this blog I just wrote of previous advice i gave to someone else on here.

Congratulations! I was going to suggest a 10K as well. My husband and I started our training today. Good luck! BTW: if you go to the C25K+ blogs, you will find several graduates currently attempting 10K. Gayle
