I wish you all the above Scots toast, on this the first day of 2013.
I've not been able to run for a wee while, due to injury, but I AM getting plenty of exercise. The above photo is after 5 hours of dancing at the outdoor Hogmanay gig.

And lang may yer lum reek, Swanscot! it was a fabulous night for it, we could see the Princes St/Castle fireworks from all the way across the Forth - v. jealous of all outdoor partygoers last night. Hope you get your running shoes on again soon!
Here's tae us, wha's like us!
And here's to running in 2013, Swanscot! If all goes well I might start week zero next week... atm like you I'm walking and biking... not quite the same, is it
Enjoy the rest of the Scottish New Year and look at the sky and the sea for me! xx
And of course here's tae everybody else too! Happy New Year everyone!
Happy new year dear fellow internees!! Mitts, I'm going to try W4 tomorrow but if it's too much I'll start again at the beginning.
Good luck and good fortune tae us all, Sara
Hi Sara, great you're getting out again and I'll cross my fingers for you!
I've spent the past week or two walking only - a brisk walk outside or on treadmill for 30 mins is 3K and when my knees are 100% happy doing that (left knee still only 90%) I'm going to insert 1 minute runs just a couple at a time and take it from there. I'll do that on the treadmill I think, it's supposed to be joint-friendlier...
Happy running!
Happy New Year swanscot and to all c25kers alike. I can't think of a more appropraite greeting for us all than your brill title.
Happy New Year to you too, from the midlands! 5 hours of dancing sounds pretty exhausting!
By the way, I'm not too sure about that road 'rising up' - I'd rather it went down, if you don't mind. Lovely blessing though - and I'll definitely go for the wind on my back rather than in my face.
Happy New Year all - but I'm with greenlegs - downhills, please, rather than up
"May the road rise up to meet you" doesn't mean 'uphill'. It means may you be able to walk (or in our case, run) without any great effort, no hills to climb, may your journey be easy.
Ah! Dear Swanscot! And a very happy new Year to you too. Seems we need to form the "injury club", lol!! I too am walking-tried a gentle run the other day, just a short distance from shops to car park, but discovered the knee is not yet ready for that challenge. I hope to restart with week 5 in a couple of weeks. I am doing as my dear friend James (Janda) instructed me yesterday to take it easy and not push the injury into more harm. So good to have one another for backup to what you are thinking.
Yes-may we all walk/run with ease (as the poem is telling us).
I have had a horrendous 2012, but my optimism tells me that 2013 is going to be a fantastic year. Hubby now changed Oncologists-the weight literally dropped from my shoulders with handing over Richard's care to him and the [positive vibes we have been given to feel. We both slept well Friday night after treating ourselves to a post hospital visit to view Skyfall. If you haven't seen it yet it is a must! The old Bond is back!
To those that can-Keep on Running!
Love,
Colette xx
And a Guid New Year to you too Swanscot. Looking good there at the dancin' missus
I did a cheeky wee 5 miler this morning through the woods and along the shore, a bit windy and I got caught in a torrentiall rain/hail shower - ouch on face and hands lol
Hope you're back running soon, we don't half miss it when we cannae get oot
Cx
Happy New Year to you Swanscot and to everyone else too!
May 2013 bring you everything that you wish for yourself, Delia xox
Coming late to this as I've been away - happy New Year from another want-to-be-runner! What's happened to us all? - all suffering one way or another. I'm hoping to be back running within a few days now - it'll be about 3 weeks. Thinking of starting with Stepping Stones and stopping if it's too much.

Happy New Year and well done with all that dancing. It's the perfect partner for the running. Just not on the same days. Anyway, hope you recover sooner rather than later and get back 'on track'. Forgive me (an ex-pat Glaswegian!) for thinking the toast was an Irish one.
Oh you lovely Scots - Belated happy Hogmanay to you all! I lived in Scotland for a few years and I'm all homesick for it now after reading these posts. The New Year fireworks in Edinburgh are just the best! I always thought the toast was an Irish one too (I'm an ex-pat Irishwoman now living in the English Midlands). The version I knew was "May the road rise before you, may the wind be always at your back and may you be in Heaven half an hour before the devil knows you're dead!". Happy 2013 to everyone!
