Doomed....

For those of you who have seen my other posts you will know that I've been dogged by one nasty bug after another since about Wk 5 which has made a 9 week programme - 12 weeks and counting. Well the last week or two everything has been fine and yesterday I went out for W8R3 and was looking forward to running that elusive W9 next week and graduating in time for the Wimpole Park Run in January. BUT disaster well and truly struck when, after about 15 minutes into W8R3 I hit the corner of the tarmac and went over on my ankle and bang there goes my ankle ligaments. After sitting on my quiet country road in agony looking at my ballooning ankle and wondering if I'd broken it, I was beginning to panic about how I'd get home as I couldn't put any weight on it when two very kind strangers stopped their car and helped me home (they had to carry me - very embarrassing). 3 hours at my local hospital later and the good news is it's not broken but the bad news is that I've torn my ligaments badly and can expect to be unable to put weight on it for a week and on crutches for 2-3 weeks after that. So bang goes my idea of the Park Run in January and I suspect after a month off I'll have to go back to Wk5. Very disappointed - running has become such a positive uplifting activity for me I feel downhearted about the enforced rest. The morale of the story is - when running on country roads keep an eye on the surface and don't run too close the edge. Grrrrr..........

Rotten luck, zippy! Try to enjoy the enforced rest - time to read all the running articles and books recommended on here, then you can blog us your thoughts and findings! :) Take care.
