I've just recently completed week 6 and was due to start week 7 tomorrow but in the meantime I've picked up a cold - streaming eyes and nose, have a cough and sore head. If I miss/stop running this week at what stage should I pick up again? - do I repeat week six or go back further?
Help!: I've just recently completed week 6 and... - Couch to 5K
Help!
Feel better soon Dand! When you feel well enough to try running again, maybe start with the last run of week 6 and see how you do. You can always go back further if you feel like you need to. You may be pleasantly surprised and what you are capable of doing even after a few extra days off. Warm wishes sent your way for a speedy recovery! Gayle
Missing a week shouldn't mean you have to go back and repeat any weeks. You are far enough along that you should be able to carry on at week 7. Give it a go and you may be pleasantly surprised in your abilities!! I too have a nasty head cold at the moment so fully sympathise with you ! Get better soon dand.

i remember reading having a week off shouldnt cause a significant drop in fitness. give it a couple of days rest hopefully you will feel lots better. i would maybe repeat last run if you are concious of it, otherwise justcarry on as usual, i wouldnt go back any further unless you struggle. but make sure you are better first otherwise you may end up feeling illler longer
take care
Thanks for the all advice and well wishes folks. I think I'll give week seven a go when feeling better - cant wait to get back out there though. :-((
A bit of advice I read in a runners' forum was to go by the neck i.e. if you have a head cold or sore throat it's OK to run but if you have a cough or a congested chest wait until it clears up. Either way I would listen to your body and not push yourself if it doesn't feel right.
Liste to your body! Give it a day or two and then just get out there and do it! Happy Running, Delia
The exact same thing happened to me. I was on week 5, so I took a week off and then started on week 6 runs and I was fine. The week off didn't seem to matter. I thought I would find it hard but I was OK. Just do what feels right to you and listen to your body. I know that I wouldn't have been able to breathe properly while I was running so taking the week off was a good call for me
