Hello all - time for a catch up! I can't believe its nearly 2 weeks since I graduated (no green badge yet :( boo hoo!) After the glory of graduating and running 5K (in 37 minutes)and thinking I was invincible I was brought back down to earth with a bump. The next run I only managed 18mins and felt awful - perhaps I'd over done it on the previous run who knows, but thankfully it was a one off and I've since done another 5K run, the speed podcast and am just back from doing the stamina podcast.

The stamina podcast was a challenge but I managed it despite it only being just above freezing here in the north of Scotland. I think having short legs helps though with the faster BPM as my strides are pretty short and quick anyway.

As a graduation/Christmas pressie I've bought myself a garmin 10 which is a lot easier than faffing around with apps on my phone and all the stats are are great motivator.

Main target is still to do 5K in 30mins which is some way off I think - and am determined to go running on Christmas day with cheesy Christmas playlist :)

Keep running everybody!

Well done Susan, its great isnt it?! Some runs are better than others as we all know but now that you have graduated you have the freedom to run for as long or as short as you like and thats what I love about it - just running for pleasure and, well, just because you can!!

I also treated myself to a garmin 110 as a grad pressies and just love it!

I cant wait to run over the Christmas period either! All that time off work; all those calories to burn; all that fun to have. Great idea about the xmas music! Just hope it doesnt snow.....

Hi Susan... it really does get like that, the not so excellent after the Woohooo :-)!!!! I just think it takes time for body to catch up with mind and vice versa.

Anyway, I think it's great that you have set yourself a great goal and are keeping it simple :-). I think it's also great that you are going to 'play' on Christmas Day and enjoy all that wonderful Christmas music - you've got me thinking about that now!!!

Brilliant that you are still out in the icy cold... we've got snow forecast for the weekend so maybe I'll be able to don my YakTrax Pro for the first time to avoid slipping.

I'm glad (well not really) to hear you haven't got your badge yet - I've been waiting too. Hope John's okay... I sent him a little reminder but no word. We have to just hope that he isn't suffering from something nasty.

Brilliant upbeat determination Susan, keep on keeping on, Sara :-)

Woooo hooooo!!!! Shining brightly like a star Sara!! I had to wait ages for mine too but its great when it comes! Another congrats and big hugs in order (((Sara)))!!!

You must tell me how you get on withe YakTrax Pro too. I dont want to stop running because of the adverse weather and have thought about getting them but would be good to hear what they are like first. To even be contemplating running in ice and snow......what has happened to me????!!

Hee hee Sue :-) - see there is some truth to myths, legends and Santa Claus 'cos when you say "what's happend to me??" - you must have thought the idea of you running was a myth :-)!!!!! Soooooo girl, you just are an inspiration.

The reason I say that is a sincere one, I was gobsmacked that you were back running so soon after your back gave out. Your 'mind over matter' gene is obviously a good one. I really was so impressed. I hope it's all going fine now and that you are completely pain free :-).

Talking of pain, I just tried to post a nice blog with a lovely Pooh and Piglet picture but it wouldn't load so I've put it up as a question... anyway, that's about overcoming my knee pain thanks to some childlike behaviour :-).

Big hugs (((((SUE))))) and thanks for the congrats, Sara xox

BEST IDEA EVER about the Christmas day run to the cheesy playlist; I am DEFINITELY doing this!!! In fact, the idea has tickled me so much , I might do it in the few runs leading up to Christmas as well :)

Well done on keeping going; hope the garmin helps you to stay motivated and make sure to wrap up in that weather!

I have 2 reasons for aiming at a Christmas day run - firstly in celebration that I can actually run, I've lost just over 3 stone and feel fitter than I have ever done in my adult life and secondly - I might miss the visit from the in-laws!!

Wow, 3 stone is a magnificent achievement, huge congratulations! And what a bonus if you miss the visiting :D

I'm already compiling my cheesy playlist; I think I will have to begin the run with "Step into Christmas" by Elton John, and the warm down walk can be "Fairytale of New York" by The Pogues & Kirsty McCall.

Ahhhh! Susan-so good to hear! Lovely blog read. Do hope you get your pressie from Santa.

So pleased that your back recovered so quickly-just don't overdo it-bbit late as you've done Stamina, lol!!!

3 stone weight loss is simply awesome! Enjoy your Christmas Day run.

Keep on Running :-)
