A little over six months ago a very overweight senior couch potato lurched out her door to start the C25K running programme. She hasn't been posting much here lately, but she occasionally lurks, enjoying watching others write their own personal success story.
You see, it IS your personal success story unfolding in your daily posts. While it may not always FEEL like a win, every time you tie your running shoes on and start down the road you ARE winning...you are fighting back against being "out of shape", overweight, or just the lethargy that comes from your daily grind.
Against the odds, you keep on keepin' on.
And the senior couch potato? She has lost 35 pounds, has won her age group in the most recent event she entered, and is planning to run a marathon next year. (The rest of the story is at grammagoesrunning.com, my personal blog) She is still chasing the sub-30 minute 5k so yes, she has "wins" yet to be achieved.
You CAN do it. You are the hero of your personal success story....keep writing!

Grammadog you are not to lurk any more, come and speak to us. Well done on your achievements, haven't read your blog yet but will once I have my coffee in my hand. Keep up the good work, like you I'm bloody minded, my hubby likens me to a bull dog with a bone between its teeth when I set out to do something. Not sure if its an age thing or just our makeup, but I say. "Good on yah girl keep up the good work" but lets see more of your lovely smiling face on here, so long as it doesn't interfere with the running that is.
Brilliant work on the 'top of class' run and for losing 35 pounds. If you come to run the Loch Ness Marathon in 2013, let me know as they is my 'local' marathon. When I recover from my current gammy leg, I may well sign up for that myself!
Wow Grammadog you rock, thats some blog you wrote, some life you have lead, some achievements you have mastered, some injuries you have overcome and fought back from. YOU ARE SOME GIRL WITHOUT A DOUBT. I wish you well for your future goals.
What a marvelous blog!! Congratulations on your weight loss and your running successes!! Your wise words about these posts being everyones personal success story are so very true!! So often we get caught up in keeping time and distance and pace that we forget the most important part...WE ARE RUNNING!! Thank you so much for the reminder!!
I wish you the very best on your marathon!! That is some goal that you have!! Go for it!!
Great blog Grammadog. You were one of the wonderful people on here who kept me going through the tough bits of C25k. I'm still really enjoying the running on my small scale and to my amazement really miss it if I can't run for whatever reason. I find it such a fantastic destressor and a great excuse to be out in the open air. I still follow your other blog sometimes too and love your explanation of how you got the name of Grammadog - very special. My father-in-law was christened Grandpa Dettol by my nephew due to his hygiene obsession (Don't know if you have Dettol in the US but it's a brand of liquid disinfectant!) I prefer Grammadog, don't you?
Thanks, Sara....if not for C25K and CaroleC I would still be that couch potato I was on May 3rd, resting on my laurels (and other bits...lol). Many on here have encouraged and inspired me, also.
