Hey all you RUNNERS - CONGRATULATIONS - Wowwwwww and well done us :-). We now have an extra 3 bonus minutes to look forward to - ha ha :-). It looks like there's going to be a good number of us starting W8 in the next 2-3 days.
I'm worried as I got a little knee niggle as I was running up the incline for ages - at 14 minutes I turned around for the downhill return but noticed the outside of my knee (where I had a meniscus rupture a couple of years ago) niggling just a little. Sooooo I need to boost that mind over matter magic and inform my knee that it can join all my W7 Runner friends to get through W8.
Any words of help, inspiration, magic - all welcome
Cheers, Sara xox

Hi psarapsych - thanks for the mention. I still can't believe I'm running and even more surprising enjoying it!! I'm planning to do the last run of week 7 later this afternoon - then onto week 8!!!
Look after your knee - maybe a change of route would help? Mind over matter is definitley the biggest hurdle at this stage - I just try and keep plodding on to the next lampost/end of the road/end of the song/whatever to get through the time.
Keep going - we can have a virtual graduation party in a couple of weeks!!
Hi Susan - yes that route is my most challenging. Mind over Matter, 2 days rest and a change of route - that sounds good. Thanks for the positive input and looking forward to the bubbles on ice xox
Thank you for the uplifting message! Can't believe I started this course (always hated running!) let alone now at 25mins three days a week; I sometimes have the urge to run every day but trying to keep to the rest days as know that injury can be wildly frustrating so fingers crossed for you.
Perhaps we need to sign up for a 5k that is within travelling distance of us all to be a motivator to life after Laura!
Amusingly I started running with my dog. She did not approve of the pace once we got to w3 and ground to a halt then walked home on the last run... Makes me giggle and gives me a sense of acheivement everytime I remember her face. Well done us
Hey Lucy, wouldn't that be great but... a convenient place to meet... hmmmm, Delia lives in Italy, I live in Austria... I'll be in Kent between 17 and 20 Nov if that's any use LOL :-)!!!
I love your dog - a wise and sensible companion if I may say :-). Actually she sounds like my partner whose face, as I topple out into the freezing dark mornings, looks a bit like the look on your dog's face sounds (eerrrgghh, that was a complicated sentence!!!). So, your dog and my Mat, through their looks of exasperation or disbelief give us wonderful feelings of achievement - how bizarred is that :-)!!
Have you seen my post about the Sam Murphy podcasts (just like Laura's) bridging to 10k?? I've put a link up from where you can download.
Soooooo onwards and upwards to that bubbly now, cheers Sara xox
Gayle, you darling - you and Steve are so supportive, THANK YOU. It's a good feeling isn't it knowing that you've got some other mad people with whom to stumble over the finish line!!!
Oh... did you get my message Gayle??
Cheers and thanks so much for the support, Sara xox
Hi Sara Just saw your post...thanks for the encouragement....yes we must all think positive thoughts for this coming week. I personally am not going to try and overthink this week just get out there and do it....I will be thinking of you all as I know we ALL CAN DO THIS after all we have trained for it right....only a few minutes more and we will be there...so C'MON LETS DO THIS TOGETHER !!! By the way the forecast is going to be HOT here Monday so I will be up at sparrow fart.....!!! Hehehe GOODLUCK to Week 8ERS XXX
Sara hiya! Yes indeeedy, great let's all do this together. WEEK 8 here we come! Sara, I wouldn't be surprised if you were able to organize a mega-pan-european park run
Have a serious talk to your knees before you go out. Promise them a couple of hours on the sofa, a bag of frozen peas, a tub of arnica, a pair of fishnet tights, whatever works for them - they are your knees so you know what they like. This afternoon I'm going for week 8 run 1 followed by a dip in the Ladies pond (9C and falling) - it's amazing what a few kind words of encouragement to my body does as I lower it into the icy waters. See you on the other side of graduation - OMG - can't believe I just wrote that.
