Why do my podcasts keep disappearing?

Any idea why I am having such difficulty with getting the podcasts onto my iPhone and keeping them there? All the C25K disappeared, having sat there perfectly happily for months, and it has been really difficult to get and keep the C25K+ eg I've run Stepping Stones but it isn't there now on my phone.

I have the same problem with my ipod - if I listen to a podcast then synchronise my ipod I lose the ones I've listened to, so I need to download again. The ones I havent listened to are still there - weird.

Have a look in iTunes - plug your iPhone or iPod in, click on its name in iTunes, and you should see the Summary screen appear in the middle of the iTunes window. If you now click on the Podcasts word at the top of that section of the screen you will see some options. Make sure it says "Automatically include all episodes", not "Automatically include all unplayed episodes". If the wrong option is shown, click on the drop down list and select "all" and click on the Apply button down at the bottom of the screen. Does that work?

When you sync with iTunes it will delete ones you've already listened too. The best thing to do is to select them all, right click, and then 'mark as unplayed'. This sets them all back to as they were when you first downloaded them. Then you need to make sure that they don't auto delete once played. Right click on them again and select 'do not allow auto delete'. Then they will remain even when you sync.
