Haha, I live to report my runnings!

Well I feel just a bit let down if I'm honest, sorry JS. The group is very friendly as I have found with Parkrun, everyone spoke and introduced themselves. But all we did was a 5K jog around the streets and tracks which I have run for 8 months or more, so nothing new there.

I managed to run without my music, I managed to keep up with the group, in fact I was middle of the group all the time. We stopped and re-grouped every now and again which I have to say I found a bit off putting, when I go out to run, I run without stopping until I'm finished!!

But here's the best bit everyone, I managed to speak on and off all through the run, not great long conversations but a few sentences here and there, I was quite proud of that achievement. It will be interesting to see what their actual training sessions consist of but tonight they had two new runners, that was a young girl and some oldgirl!! So they had to assess the newbies first, so the next time will be the real test perhaps.

So anyone wondering what their local running group is like, give it a try, if you don't you'll never know. :)

Always good when you manage a conversation whilst out running!

I am guessing now with the dark evenings there is no choice than to run round the streets....I have to say I found the off road much more fun!

Ah well, at least it's nice to know that you compare well to other runners in the area - and good for you that you were able to speak and run! :-) That's what I'd love to be able to do, none of my friends run sadly (women don't often seem to run in France, it's just guys running and they're few and far between here), so I can't practise it.

Hi Suki, there was 13 of us (unlucky number I know) and 4 of them were guys, 2 were massive too, I mean 6'2" & 6'4" at least, I got a sore neck trying to speak to him while looking into his eyes, just impossible!! ;) My local Parkrun I would say is a split 60% men 40% women. So thats not too bad for us girlies.

Sounds good oldgirl, glad you managed some brief conversations while running - definitely something to be proud of. I normally run alone so I'm considering a running club, there's a beginner's type one I might give a go.

My local running club is pretty much like yours, we only do 4-41/2k distance with atleast 4-5 stops but everyone runs at much faster pace than mine so I try to keep up with them and consider this night as my 'speed workout':-)
