I'm in week 9 & am able to run for the 30min but am no way near running 5K maybe 1/2 of that. Is that normal or am I just running too slow?

Don't worry, most people haven't completed 5k in 30 minutes at the end of the program. If you can run for 30 minutes then you are a Graduate and you deserve it ! You can concentrate on the speed afterwards.

the idea is just to develop sufficient stamina to be able to keep going for 30-40 minutes. If you've done that, well done and now you can plan to work on speed! Happy running :)

After you graduate you can work on your speed and stamina - I graduated in July and immediately worked on running 5k (not in 30 mins!). I then kept pushing myself to run a bit further every week. Now I have started doing the stepping stone run once a week to speed up - I am determined to run 5k in 30 mins although I am still not quite there yet. There is no great hurry, but it really is amazing what you can achieve after you can run for 30 mins non-stop! Well done by the way!

Don't worry about speed & be proud of the fact that you can run for 30mins! I would just enjoy being able to run for 30 mins for a few weeks & then if you want to you could think about either speeding up or running for a bit longer. I was really disappointed the first time I tracked how far I was going, it was about 3K in 30 mins & this was a few weeks after graduating, I'm slowly building up speed again & I will get to do 5k in 30 mins but it might not be for a while! You've done really well & the important thing is to stay positive & stay motivated.
