A Ramble About a Run.

I've been a bit quiet on here recently, have been spending far too much time on my laptop so decided to try & go cold turkey for a while. It's harder than you would think not to come on here as the support of the forum is a great help and motivator when you are running.

I've done 3 runs this week (or last week according to my Nike+ band) and also started a healthy eating plan* and have lost a total of 3lbs so I am happy with that for the first week. OH lost 7lb with no exercise - jammy so & so!! Down to 12st 4lb for me! :D

Two of the runs were awful and I only made it to the 20 minute mark each run but today was better. Today was GOOD! I had a day off work today and was having the internal debate - should I run, should I not but I decided to 'just do it (c)'. There were two main reasons behind my to run list

1. I want to only run on Mon, Wed & Fri as it will be easier to fit in. If I didn't run today my next run would be Wednesday :(

2. I have just forked out for a new expensive, albeit brilliant, sports bra and a new MP3 player. It would be a total waste of money if I wasn't going to use them.

So todays run was great, hazy but really warm. My favourite running shirt was in the wash so I put on a skinny vest top which made me look slim (eek) and also like I had run a marathon as by the end it was drenched in sweat - thank heavens for my usual wicking fabric tee!! Popped my new MP3 player on and off we went. I ran up 2 steep and I mean steep hills and covered a total of 4.36km in 25 minutes! I was impressed with that considering said hills were very steep. I was intending on carrying on for longer but it was warm, even at 08:30 am, and Max** was panting quite heavily so we slowed down to a brisk walk for about 10 minutes until we reached home. I changed my route today and really enjoyed challenging myself, I'm sat here thinking 'run again, run again' and I am really looking forward to Wednesdays run.

I am off to buy a treadmill tonight, fingers crossed. I had earmarked £500, or thereabouts, for treadmill purchase but when talking to my sister she knew someone was selling one (barely used - aren't they all) for only £150 so if it's good I may have a treadmill. I love running outdoors so the treadmill will be for emergencies only such as really bad weather etc. Also OH wants to re-start C25K and thinks he will be more comfortable on the treadmill.

* A very healthy eating plan including vegetables and fruit! Since starting to run my body seems to be pointing me towards healthy food and the craving for chocolate seems to be dissipating, she says after eating a Cadburys chocolate medal yesterday!! But the medal was earned, I promised myself I could have it if I ran 3 times in a week.

** Max is black labrador. Black lab + sunshine = tired, panting dog.

It's strange how your tastes change isn't it? Since running I seem to want more healthy food. Good on you for getting out! The gear definitely helps! Enjoy the treadmill!
