Finally got started.....

Well after a heavy body pump session at the gym last night I finally got started this morning :) my daughter accompanied my on her scooter but will be using her bike from now on as she struggled to keep up! I am very overweight but fairly fit as I have been using the gym for a good year on and off. I want to learn to jog in order that I can continue with fitness through the school holidays and it would be the ultimate gift to myself! As an overweight person it is not something I ever thought I would be able to do.

I started this plan last year and ended up in hospital with gallstone problems after my first couple of sessions so had to stop whilst recovering and awaiting my operation date. So now I am fully recovered and have been exercising regularly all year and am ready to do this!

Our first session was fab, I felt great and was very excited to cope well with the run section especially considering my tired legs lol. As I already do a fair bit of exercise I am considering skipping to wk2 and seeing how I get on. I can always drop back if it feels too much.

I have never blogged before so not sure how to end :) Jems x

firstly well done for coming back. Sometimes life just gets on the way of stuff we want to do. I am on W4 now and I have been for a few weeks now because for one reason or another I couldnt complete my runs. i too am overweight but dont let that stop you. Take your time. it is not a race. Above all take care of yourself. Go to hear that you have fully recovered.keep Running!

Congratulations Jems for restarting the programme. It sounds like you are seriously motivated about this, and also you thoroughly enjoyed the first run - you'll go far this time!

I'd just suggest that you try and follow the programme as planned. You're obviously fit, but I think the three sessions a week are there to build up muscles that you might not have used in other sports. I did the C25K in the 9 weeks but now I'm held up with calf pain for a few weeks - I think it's because I went too fast in the end, and should have perhaps had more rest days or repeated earlier runs. The programme is such hard work but so enjoyable that it seems a shame to rush it. OK that was my opinion, now you go ahead and enjoy yourself!

Wow thanks so much, am so happy to receive some comments and encouragement. Nevertoolate, thinking about it I agree that setting up building block is never a bad thing so I think I will not jump ahead but take the time to build my confidence and enjoyment with these early runs.

Shane, that's awesome that you just don't get into too much drama about missing a few runs and just keep moving forward, these are all tips that I will definatley take with me.

Thx guys :)
