hi Fuzzyrex, never really venture that far from home alone (yet) but it would make sense to be prepared I guess, usually tell hubby where roughly I'm going and how long & I go without phone as it's "my time", will check them out thanks
Hi Fuzzyrex. I always bring my phone in my little bum bag. In my phone book I have an emergency contact number filed under ICE. This stands for In Case of Emergency and is recognised by the emergency services. Hope we never need it tho!
i have an ICE in my phone book too but as I have my phone locked (in case it was stolen) i'm sure that's defeating the purpose of ICE. So have gone for a high tech solution...piece of paper with name / number on in the wrist band i wear (which holds my keys)
I bring my phone with me (has my husband/home details stored under ICE) when I run alone, and tend to stick to routes that are reasonably well used.
I love running with a buddy though - I introduced my friend to the podcasts and re-did a couple of runs so she could catch up - we've mostly run through the weeks together and it's been such an encouragement. We're at a similar level of fitness (or should I say, unfitness but getting fitter). There have been times I completed runs that I know I would probably have given up on had she not been running with me, and also we keep each other in check re: running too fast or dodgy posture etc.
i run both on my own and with others (runnning club /parkrun)....have to say i prefer running with others now as it makes me keep going much further / faster than i manage on my own
I run by myself or with my son offering me words of 'encouragement' whilst cycling alongside me! I don't take any form of ID or a phone with me so I really like the look of those bands.
A few of my friends have said that they are going to try the podcasts though so hopefully I'll have some additional company soon.
I always have my phone and my driving license in my pocket. I also carry a whistle so if I can't use the phone I can keep blasting until someone gets annoyed enough to come and see what all the noise is about and at 5am I don't think it would take too long lol
