Mainly interested in improving speed techniques/interval/cross training and nutrition and don't know where to start with any of these.

You could try picking up Runners World or Running Fitness magazines they have a good mix of all that stuff and throw in some bits and bobs you never thought you would like but some how become compulsive.

Also loads of race listings and reviews to give you ideas of stuff to do.

Runner's World also do a series of sort of "magbooks"- bigger than a magazine but not quite a book- called "complete guide to....." Think there's one on men's, women's and marathon running but can't quite remember them all. They're about a tenner and in the magazine secion of WHS Smith rather than the book section.

I found mine very comprehensive and answered all of the questions I have at this stage.

I used Running Made Easy in preparation for starting C25k. It is a very good all round guide, so it doesn't cover issues in great detail but does give the headline info. I also use Runner's World Magazine and their website. :-)
