Birthday coming up in September and usually get some money so thought I would have a look at Garmin's in advance but I'm confused by the variety on Amazon, can anyone recommend which one for small women would be best?

Go to the bottom of the page of the link above for full explanation of the models. There is also a comparison chart to download. Right at the botton is a demo of garmin connect, this is where all your stats are held.

I have a 410. I chose this because it has loads more features than 110 and was only about £20 more on Amazon when I got mine. Its brilliant!

I have the 110, wore it today for the first time on my run. It has everything I need, and I'm not much of a techie so it may actually be simple enough for me to be able to use...lol

As Grammadog has, I have the 110. It's neat, easy to set up, does everything you need it to do unless you are some sort of serious stat freak and makes lovely charts on the pc!! Look out for good deals on Amazon, the price seems to vary a lot.

I have the 110 as well, bought it based on reviews and two very happy friends who've got one. It does everything I need and apparently is one of the smaller ones in the range, which helps if, like me, you got child-size wrists!

I'm also interested in Garmins but had read that the 110 doesn't give you your current pace while you're actually running - is that true? I get that from my Nike+ Sportband and find it really useful to gauge how much I'm pushing myself.....

No that's not true the 110 does give you current pace. Its what I use it for most.

The 110 has everything I have needed so far.

how do you check your pace greg?? Ive only used mine for the HR & absolutely loving that I now know how far Ive run when Im out there doing it.

It shows me the pace at the bottom of the screen. I have total time at the top distance in the middle and pace at the bottom.

It might be the other way around top and middle but defo pace at the bottom.

The ladies 110 is great. Easy to use (although I have a habit of forgetting to turn it off when I stop which doesn't help). It is grey with a pink stripe on the strap and is the best one for small wrists.

i've got the 110 as well & it gives me everything I need. I love it. Must put in a plug for Halfords online where I got mine. Amazon annoyed me by varying the price over the few days I was checking it out, which was why I went for Halfords. It was same price as Amazon and it was delivered in 24 hours - just in time for my next run!

There seem to be a lot of comments on Amazon to the effect that the Garmin suffers badly from condensation, screen mists up and effectively stops working. To be honest that has deterred me from getting one. Has anyone had those issues?

Greg_M profile image

I get a bit of condensation on mine from time-to-time, usually on my longer runs but it doesn't stop working and clears pretty quickly. Thinking about it though I haven't had that for a while now though. Only occasionally.

Have had no condensation on my Garmin 110. I've run in rain, hail, sun, fog. My only issue would be with the off button, which doesn't always seem to turn it off! Other than that, as long as I remember to press the start/stop timer button firmly enough, everything is hunky dory.

Ha! I thought I was going mad :-)

Ah, do you get the "You thought you'd turned me off didn't you? But, no, see, I'm still on. Now you're thinking, did I turn it off? Did I? I'm sure I did. Ok, maybe I didn't. Damn thing's out of battery power again!!"

Not that we're paranoid or anything!!

I do!

At least it has the good grace to keep going for a long time once the low power warning comes on. It usually sees me through to the end even when it has tricked me and let me only get a hundred yards down the road before it pipes up :-D

Touch wood, not had any condensation problems with mine (nor have my friends and they've been out in the pouring rain). The pink and grey 110 is actually the same size as the unisex black and grey...went for that one, because for some reason it was quite a bit cheaper. And yes, as Greg says, it does give you the pace.

I have noticed the price difference. May be pink plastic is more expensive!

I have 110 too. It does everything you need and I have small wrists and it fits fine. I've never had a condensation problem.

Good-oh; perhaps I'll treat myself!

Many of the people at running club have the 110 and they all sing it's praises.

I've mentioned (at least 10 times) to my husband that I'd like one for my birthday in September :)

I'm dropping the hints now for September too :) Many thanks for all the replies, at least I now have a good idea which one to go for.
