First run this morning on my threadmill !! found it so hard but determined to do this !!!!!
i didnt think i was so unfit. Anyone else just... - Couch to 5K
i didnt think i was so unfit. Anyone else just starting out ?
Well done! Thats the first one out of the way! It is hard but you will have such a sense of achievement. Try running outside sometimes as well - there may be more distractions
Hang in there....I thought I would die when I started...(as most of us did)....I'm up to W4R2 tomorrow. Can't say it's any easier, but I'm bloody minded and I'm NOT quitting! (I do all my runs outside...I think I WOULD quit if I had to run on a treadmill..just not for me)
Well done on your first run, i ran with a friend and honestly cant remember running 3rd to 6th repitition, but got through all 8 somwhow. You will be surprised how much easier your 2nd run will be.
I run outside, its worth a try, but pace is so important to a sucessful run, something i still haven't got right and i'm on week 6
I can't quite believe how unfit I am either. I've just finished week 2 and it's still hard I'm afraid to say, but well worth it! Good luck for your next run!
Well done for starting! I have just done my first week, so only two runs ahead of you. It does get better. I first tried this a couple of months ago and didn't make it through the 20 minutes. I felt so bad. I tried again last Monday and it was so different and I felt such a sense of achievement. Hang on in there and keep going.
I'm sure you can't be as unfit as me - that's the point of this. I keep reading all the blogs from people you were like you and me at the start and can now run 30 minutes - and after so few weeks. The miracle WILL happen for us.
Tips - run outside and go REALLY slowly! Pace doesn't matter at our stage - its getting that stamina up. Good luck.
Hi keep going! Ive only just completed my first week! And its ok - really
I run on a treadmill as it seems to be better formy knees. I just started week 4 today and it was ok. Week 3 was a huge learning curve for me as I was still running too fast. My run or shuffle is little more than my walking pace but the style is jogging not walking iycwim.
It helped me and in some point after graduation whenever that is I will work on speed.
Well done you, thats the worst run over. Remember to slow it down if it gets to difficult, its much better to finish slow than to fail at speed.
I have just graduated but it feels like I did week one last week, time goes so fast! I can remember my legs and lungs screamimg for me to stop, when laura says "just 2 more runs" I wanted to murder her! I did a trial week one before I started for real and managed about 4 reps before giving up, mainly because I had read Running Made Easy and had only expected 3 reps so 8 was a shock!
You did really well, keep it up, only 8 more weeks to go!
Well done, I did my W1R1 this morning at 6am after my nightshift at work.....I know how you feel.
Ah, glad there is someone else with the nightshift problem - I can't face it first thing in the morning, so find myself going out really late on my nights off... It does make getting the run / rest day balance rather tricky!
It was a big mind hurdle to go out for a 'run' instead of crawling into my bed, especially as I knew that the excercise before bed would mean that wide eyed sleeplessness as the sun came out.
having said that I am looking forward to doing the next one
Well done and don't give up. I am still amazed I made it through week 1 and have just done W2R1.
I would not yet describe my style as 'running', more like plodding in short bursts, but as someone before said, it's all about building stamina at this stage, and building confidence.
well done i was like you at wk1.now starting wk3 i use a treadmill as i can keep a steady pace and fine it a bit easier.keep going
