Last run without recovery walks ...

I did W6R2 today, and was all pumped and ready to go. In fact I meant to go yesterday, but the first time I left the house I had to come back as the iPod was dead, and the second time I left all ready to go, I realised I had never downloaded that run! So I took it as a sign that I was to re-join my wife on the couch with Easter eggs :)

So, this morning, I finally did W6R2. And it was my worst run yet :/ I just completed it and no more. I didn't find my stride, never really felt like I was settled into the lope, and my ankle hurt.

All I could do was say 'hello soreness my old friend - if you think you can stop me, then you can #@!%$ !' I read that in a book by Ranulph Fiennes once. His version was less 'colourful' as the way I put it. So the pain didn't stop me, but it sure slowed me down. It wasn't even that bad, just a niggle, but I think I was in bad form from the outset.

So, Thursday is another day. And it's my big 25 min run - no more recovery walks for me. Yikes! I was sorely tempted today to think 'I only just managed two piddly 10 min runs today, what hope have I got of doing 25 mins in one go?!' So I have to snap out of it ... and get back on form. Because I am NOT GOING TO LET THIS BEAT ME!!!!! :) :) :)

WTH, I had a similar thing happen to me when I went out on w6r2. I did warm up walk then was into the first run when my @&!!?,;( iPod battery died. I was so hacked off but I didnt stop, I just kept going and used my watch to time my run. In fact I was so afraid of timing it wrong I think I may have done a little bit over. It was hard going, not quite as bad as w6r1 which I barely just scraped through but definitely not my finest hour - you know like there were times where I was so slow I though maybe I was runng backwards!!! However scrape through I did and I figure it doesn't matter too much about the quality of my run, the thing at this point is just to finish. Plenty of time once I can run for 30 mins non stop to get faster, sleeker and more gazelle like.

You're doing great, nearly two thirds through the program and of course you'll be able to do w6r3 (and more) after all you ran 20 mins non stop last week! You can do it, just keep faith with the programme it'll get you there, Laura promises!!!

Ditto! Week 6 was my worst week by far and I was making all sorts of excuses not to have to go out and face that dreaded run 3! I changed my mindset in the end, worked out how far I could run in 10 minutes (1 lap of the local nature reserve) and multiplied it by 3! That way I wasn't waiting for Laura to tell me how long I'd run for. I just knew I had to count down the laps. It was fantastic when she finally told me to stop running. I knew I'd beaten it then because it's all straight running from here onwards. Once you've done it once you know you can do it again. Loads of people seem to suffer in weeks 5 and 6. You'll be fine and will most likely surprise yourself! Keep going!

keep the faith!

I've read loads of similar posts and everyone seems to say the same advice so it must be good.

Listen to the plan, pace yourself and have some self-belief :)

I hope I can listen to my own advice though as I'm off out for w6r2 later.
