I’ve only made it to Week 7 Run 2 since I last posted and then had some aches in my right hip, so my couch to 5k journey has been temporarily halted while I give it some time to heal and rest up for longer than a day in between runs. Obviously this means I’m now very unlikely to graduate before the new year but I’m listening to my body to prevent causing further injury/damage.
Going to go out and try to run a little bit tomorrow to see how it’s feeling after nearly a week off. Also going to check out some strengthening exercises too - if anyone has any good ones/resources/videos please let me know.
Hope everyone else’s runs are going well, really hoping I’ll be back out there joining you all soon enough.

There are a lot of reasons why your hips may be aching and it's a really good idea to seek medical advice to make sure you're addressing the problem correctly.
I spent 5 months hobbling around with a hip problem (I was travelling so couldn't get to the doctor). A 10 minute GP appointment when I got home sorted the problem out permanently and gave me exercises that quickly resolve it if it starts niggling again.
We can point you in the direction of what worked for us, but you are different. You deserve the attention of a qualified medical professional who can give you the individual advice that you need to stay safe and grow stronger.
My first port of call is my amazing physio when anything like this happens. Hips are an area which often require strengthening as we extend the distances we run, but best to get it checked out if it persists. Just part of your body getting used to doing something possibly. You will become so much stronger as you progress.
Hi StoneDragon! Hope you’re keeping well. How’s the running going? I’ve been battling with sciatica since before Christmas so no running for me which I’m gutted about. Have been doing my NHS stretches multiple times daily and am nearly back to normal now. But I’m going to give myself a longer break than I feel I need before attempting to run again but hope to make it to graduation again eventually! What a long and slow road this time around has been 😅
