I'm doing my c25k on the treadmill as I don't feel confident running outside and people I know seeing me . Wk9 on the other hand I'll be in the Lanzarote sun so hopefully I'll complete it outside. I believe it' s harder outside. Currently running at 8.4km on treadmill.

Hello... Well you are a runner and as soon as you feel comfortable you will love getting outside.
Many forum friends have felt like you but often, other folk ,are too wrapped up in life to even notice you. If they do, they usually feel jealous!
But when you are ready Lanzarote sounds a great place for an early morning sunshine run... wow!
Photos please as and when!
Until then, maybe try a little outdoor jogette? Earlyish or later if you feel a tad nervous? You may find it to your liking !

I did all of my c25k on the treadmill this time round. One thing I found transitioning to outside was that I ran far too fast. Treadmill helps me a lot with pacing. Plus as ground is uneven legs were a bit more sore as used more stabiliser muscles. Other than that it’s all running and you will be your own biggest critic. After the first outdoors it’s easier.

Fear of being seen is normal, we've all been there! However once you have done it a few times you will no longer care what people think! Most people you see out and about are really friendly and supportive. I always give a friendly good morning and wave as I pass fellow runners and dog walkers. A big thumbs up and a smile to any runner that looks new or like there struggling a bit hopefully gives a bit of motivation to keep going. The treadmill for me is torture 😂 HOWEVER it's better than not running and a good alternative if conditions outside are dangerous so well done on getting started and hopefully you can venture outside once your feeling a bit more confident 👍🏻 good luck and honestly don't worry about what anybody else thinks, your trying to improve yourself and that's a great thing 💪🏻
Happy running

I did the whole of C25K on the treadmill for the same reasons. First time outside I felt very self-conscious and vulnerable. You get used to it. I now take my running gear everywhere we go on holiday and love exploring new places. Enjoy Lanzarote, you'll find some great runs there. The seafront walkways are just made for running and you won't be alone as many locals and other holiday makers will be out there too. Just do your own thing like everyone else. Have a great time.

Please don't worry about other people. When I first started C25K, I thought I must look ridiculous jogging at a pace that was slower than my briskest walk. After a few runs, I didn't care. I was just happy to get out there.
I found that there was a difference between treadmill and outdoors, but experiment and find out what best suits you. There is no wrong run.
Do keep us posted. A warm run sounds lovely just about now...

No need to worry what people think, you may be someone else’s inspiration!

Please can you tell me which treadmill you use? I have been looking for a while but there’s so much choice out there so a personal recommendation would go a long way. Thank you
Horizon fitness t202se . I like the cushioning. Am not in UK so not sure if available there. Got iit second hand for a steal, had hardly been used . I ran on a few before I chose that one.

Thank you, much appreciated 😊

Hi Nana. It’s different outside. Pace. Breathing. Conditions. I did the first five weeks inside. Then started going out. I’m starting week nine today. First run will be inside. The last two will be out. You’re doing a great job no matter what. Last week in Lanzarote. That’s cool. Good luck with the rest of the program. Those people you know who see you are probably wishing that they had the courage and determination that you have. You’re a winner no matter what. Good luck. See you at graduation. 🧑🎓

I love running in Lanzarote.
(By the time you completed your warm up you'll be a good distance from the house and less likely to meet anyone you know. After a couple of runs - you won't care. Worth getting out for the air and the variety).
