Who out there does a thorough warm up session. I don’t skip it but I should give it more attention I know. I’m considering warming up in the house on my treadmill before going on my outside run. So then when I arrive at my start point I’m good to go. I only live a few minutes away in the car. I’m interested to hear other opinions regarding this topic. I’m fine with the cool down just struggling with the warm up. My energy and-fitness levels are just enough to get through the sessions at the moment and it feels like I am depleting them in the warm up before I start my run. Perhaps I am being paranoid. My approach both mentally and physically has changed since the runs got longer. It’s inexperience that’s driving this I expect.

Warm up.
I always do my warm up exercises before leaving the house and then do a brisk walk for a few minutes before running. Have stuck with this routine for many years!
Just remember, that as the weather gets colder❄️, warm ups become even more important as cooler muscles are more prone to injury!
My warm up is dead simple, stand on one leg for a minute (X2 obviously), 15-20 calf raises, then do them on one leg), rotate my hips, swing my legs, all done while I drink my coffee, then a 5 minute warmup walk.I might add a few leg lift/weird walk type exercises if my husband is tying his shoelaces or some other stretches if anything is stiff. By doing the warmup slowly while I do other things it may not be particularly scientific but at least it gets done.
I think the walk is probably the most effective bit of this. Park a little bit further from your starting point and you'll be good to go 😁
