Almost bagged a Munroe!

Helen and I set off this morning to climb Sheihallion (1083m). We did really well until about 400m in distance and 50m in height from the top. Wind was so strong it almost blew me over, so cold I couldn’t blow my nose and then the boulders became so difficult we decided to call it a day, we had been in thick cloud since half way up so no stunning pictures. The selfie is taken at our summit. We ascended 800m of height gain, covered 9.5 m and according to Strava burnt 2235 calories so we are quite proud of ourselves. Helen is 76 and I am 68 and just a few months ago, I could barely walk 400m on the flat after nearly 2 years of Long Covid. I think Week 5 should seem a doddle when I get back!!

Pity you didn't climb it yesterday, it was a beautiful day with very clear views from the top and hardly any wind, nevertheless a big congratulations to both of you on that climb, certainly not a failure.

🍏🤗 What an accomplishment to get that far & without the views not much point going further with strong winds! Well done & you can certainly take on 5 & the rest!!! Glad you & Helen were able to share in this experience! Well done the pair of you xx

We used to do long walks - many moons ago, but have somehow drifted away from them. I was going to say that long Covid has taken away the extra oomph and stamina required for walks of that length ... but it seems I don't even have that excuse!

Well done to you both!

What got you better from long Covid? Amazing climb!

Hi, I went to Scotland for a month in April/May, until then I had been on steroids for my lungs, Betahistine for dizziness and tablets for upset tummy. While away, lungs felt better when away so weaned myself off the steroids, still fatigued but then I got Covid again and other than my tummy still being delicate it seems to have fixed the other issues. Still not quite back to pre COVID fitness but much much better!

I've nearly climbed it too - same experience, way too windynear the top to be safe to continue.
