Started week 4 today, it’s a big step up from week 3 but I really enjoyed it, except until on the last run that wolfhoynd lept off a bank above me and almost took me out! The owner said “it’s OK, he’s harmless” OK he doesn’t growl or bite but 45kg of dog coming horizontally at shoulder height is pretty scary!! Tia dodged behind me which I was pleased about as last time he jumped on her and she yelped. Anyway, no harm done and run complete and now just one more pound to lose to get back to my pre Long Covid weight (I’ve lost 24lbs so far). Feeling good!
Week 4 Run 1 and that dog again!: Started week... - Couch to 5K
Week 4 Run 1 and that dog again!
Well done to you Phdgranny on completing run 1 of week 4 of C25K, apart from that little 45kg wolfhound dog leaping off a bank at your shoulder it was a good run for you, onwards and upwards to run 2 of week 4, hopefully that *wolf hound" won't disrupt your run.
🍏 Oh how awful!! Really frightening!! It’s good it all ended well but the owner was not in control. Glad you & Tia are ok. I am amazed you were able to finish the run but you did!!! What with the pounds falling off and the runs going well you are a real star 🌟 Well done! 🤗💝
You are so brave, I'd be utterly terrified. I had a much smaller dog jump at me a few weeks back, first time it's happened in over 3 years running in this area. Yeah, I'm sure he's friendly but I am not a doggy person (though I try very hard and do like a few, selected mutts I know well).
Why can't people put their wretched 'fur babies' on leads when other people are about if they know the dog will approach them?????
I'm an owner of 3 dogs, there tiny but always on leads when not on my property. I don't understand letting them run loose in public places.
Well done on completing another run though and that weight loss is amazing! Remind me to find out how you've done it when I finally start posting in the weight loss section, I figure get c2k5 complete and then get serious about dropping some fat.
Not funny, and the dog should be controlled by the owner.
I have had similar issues, rarely, I am happy to say, with large dogs and I have refused to begin running again until the dog is on the leash.
Dogs , I do not blame at all, owners, yes... would the result have been the same if a child involved? They are unpredictable in certain situations, and we all have a right to feel safe?
Well done you anyway !
It makes me cross when people let their dogs jump at you, oh they are harmless they say but when your in a field and two Alsatian’s bound towards you, well you wonder if you have had your chips oh they wouldn’t hurt you ……
wow that sounds a bit frightening. I’m not a doggy person and have only experienced dogs while running twice but I was certainly very wary. Glad you’re ok and completed your run without further issues. So envious of your weight loss. I need to loose about that amount but just can’t seem to get in the mindset. So very well done to you on both accounts. Happy running. 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
Yikes - the dangers of running. That sounds very scary! Hopefully you'll make it through the rest of Week 4 canine-free.
Congrats on the run and the weight loss. Keep us posted.
