We’re not medical experts here and would always encourage people with those sorts of concerns to seek real life advice from a suitably qualified professional. If your doctor is telling you not to run, it’s best to listen to them. You could seek a second opinion but please don’t ignore someone who knows your personal health history.
🍏 Hi Bob how wonderful that you want to take control of your health & fitness and are thinking about running. I know the overall guidance about sickle cell anaemia is to avoid very strenuous exercise as it can trigger a crisis. We are not experts in any medical field on this forum so cannot comment on your case. However I am sure you could get excellent advice from your medical team. We wish you all the best & do let us know.
As has already been said we can't give you medical advice here. You may be able to get more specific information from the Sickle Cell Society, they have a helpline sicklecellsociety.org/helpl...
Good luck and I hope you can find ways to improve your health within the constraints of your condition.
Welcome. You have had the advice from the Team here... and when you, hopefully, get the go ahead from the experts, who are supporting you.. we will be waiting!
