Disney vasculitis

I have been running and doing keep fit classes for the last 10 years or so, am 63 and reasonably fit. Last night I did two back to back classes and came home with an itchy rash on the lower part of my legs which I have self diagnosed as Disney vasculitis. I’ve never had anything like to before but the advice is to rest. Has anyone had this and if so what was the outcome? I’m really scared this is the end of my exercise regime!

Your best bet would be to get a proper diagnosis. It may well be something totally innocuous. It’s really easy to reach for Dr Google an d come up with all sorts of scary diagnoses when the actual problem is much more mundane. It must be a worrying time but it’s best to make sure you’re not worrying with no reason by seeing your gp.

Good luck with getting to the bottom of this and sending good wishes for it to settle down soon ❤️‍🩹

Thank you for the advice. I will go to my GP but I said suspect by the time I get an appointment it will have cleared up!

Take a photo, so that you have something to show your GP if it has subsided by the time you get an appointment 👍

I agree. It's dangerous to diagnose yourself, even if you might be healthcare provider. Get a professional opinion and do let us know how you make out...

While I agree that self-diagnosis is unhelpful, I personally wouldn't be making a GP appointment. I'd be seeking advice from another health professional, such as a pharmacist, or a practice nurse.

If the rash hasn't subsided or gone away, they're better positioned than Dr Google to decide whether or not you need to see a GP. Also, if the rash is itchy, a pharmacist can give you medication to treat that.

And if the rash has gone away, and you're not feeling unwell, why would you need to see a GP?

I appreciate that you're concerned, so it might reassure you to know that if it is Disney vasculitis, btw, Dr Google suggests that it's harmless and will resolve on its own within a few days.

Hi Cmoi, I have phoned my GP and as expected they have told me to go to the pharmacist. I will be doing that in the next day or so when I can. Thanks for the suggestion.
