a blustery day!!

I ran week 3 run 3 today - 3 x 17 mins with 1 min recovery walks. The first half was lightly interspersed with rain but not too heavy and it didn’t seem too hard but the wind that was blowing me along made it seem chillier than the 14 degrees that Garmin thought it was!!! I am currently growing out a fringe and of course it’s just at that length that the wind could blow it into my eyes all the time too. I didn’t see many others in the Trail today - 2 runners and 2 dog walkers and that was it!! One runner was the lovely little senior Asian man, who trundles along looking like he is just doing the Slowrunning, but managing to leave me standing as he sneaks past. Summer and winter he is bundled up in hoody, joggers, baseball cap (and sa carf in winter too). We passed each other for about 2 years until one day he finally responded to my Good Morning and now we exchange greetings every time.

The lovely deep pink wild rose is blooming along the way now too and I get a great blast of its perfume, which normally I love but today it just reminded me too much of Turkish Delight …( I started back at Slimming World on Tuesday evening after seeing the photos from our little mini break😳). I’m doing ok really but that was just a little trigger. It’s considerably better than the Sewage works smell which is at the halfway mark and I am always glad to turn around when I reach that bit. Today with the wind it was smelling for a lot longer , and then when I turned around I was running against the wind which made my rain soaked teeshirt feel really chilly. I was glad to get back to the roses for a second Turkish Delight hit. And then I was trying to remember what week 4 was so the last section went by fairly easily.

But then all I could think about near the end of my 3rd and final run was what I was going to have for my breakfast when I got back. I’d only had a quick banana before I set off and it was 11.15 when I finished running but another 35 mins when I finally got home after popping into Poundland for a couple of bits. Ended up with weetabix, strawberries, raspberries and a kiwi.

So my breakfast ended up being brunch and now I have had a late lunch so I am all adrift today.

Just looking over my 3 runs of week3 and I got gradually faster in each run. I use the term faster loosely but for me it’s an improvement. I’d gone from 14.33, to 14.25, to 14.17 a mile on the last run today so at least it’s the right direction 😁.

Week 4 here I come!! 🎉
