Dizziness

Hi all I'm hoping someone out there can help me I stared c25k 9 weeks ago I have made it all the way through to week 9 where the issue has now gotten worse .I started eating healthier and stopped vaping etc when I started c25k with a complete fresh start

But of late I have been getting dizzy spells to the point of feeling faint I am presuming I am not eating enough or enough of the correct things .

How good the c25k app is there isn't anything on there about proper nutrition etc .

I work full time in a fairly active job hitting 10k steps most days without taking into account then adding a run also .

I had a general blood test last year which came back clear for diabetes etc .

Any help would genuinely be really appreciated as I'm close to stopping due to the dizzy/faint feeling

Many thanks

I think this is something you really need to discuss with your GP…if you’re regularly feeling dizzy and faint and that’s new for you, thats something that should be discussed with a real life professional person. Couch to 5k shouldn’t be making you feel like this.

I really hope you can get to the bottom of this and get back on track with the runs. Wishing you all the best.

It always seems to be worse the day after I do a run , It's not constant throughout the day but just creep out of nowhere.

I did go to my docs a couple of weeks ago and like most docs now fobbed me off and told me to go back in 6 weeks if its still happening .

Spoke to them again today have a phone appointment this Friday with another possible blood test for low sugar level

Sorry you’ve been having a rough time getting help. Unfortunately we’re not medical experts here and this is something that is best sorted by your doctor.

What you’re describing isn’t typical for people doing to couch to 5k and it wouldn’t be right for us to try and diagnose what’s going on. It’s good you’ve got that phone appointment on Friday.

Wishing you all the best.

MissUnderstanding has given you great advice... and seeking your GP advice is a must... there is little information on the pinned post, How to run C25K post... e.g.

" You want to eat a good nutritious DIET as a runner. Eat a broad range of things, including plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. Cut out processed foods, biscuits, cakes and sweets from your daily diet and reduce alcohol, keeping them all for special occasions. Do not be tempted to reward yourself for your exertions with that “naughty” treat. Counting your calories may be helpful and many regulars here have had great success with My Fitness Pal, either online or as an app, used alongside C25k.

Whatever time of day you run, it is best not to do it on a full stomach. While one man’s large meal is another man’s snack, the general guidance is that you should wait two to four hours after a large meal, before you run, and thirty minutes to two hours after a snack. My favourite running time is first thing in the morning, with half a banana for 5k and a whole banana for 10k run and a pint of very diluted 1:6 apple juice immediately before I go out of the door. It doesn’t work for everybody, so experiment, but if you ate normally the previous day, you don’t need to fuel up specially for C25k workouts. "

Keep us posted please ?

I will definitely keep you posted it's something I want to get to the bottom of because I do enjoy running its the day after I'm not liking ,as mentioned I've improved my diet I'm eating more veg we don't eat processed food or hardly any frozen food don't smoke don't vape anymore hardly ever drink so I should be the healthiest I've ever been other than this .I have used myfitnesspal for a few days to almost do a food diary and even though not eating enough for the day I still had 3 meals with some snacks

Thank you for the reply as mentioned any help is really appreciated

So it's happening the day after a run, not during or just after the run itself? You need a doctor's advice, I'm wondering if the running is showing up an existing problem - for instance, could it be vertigo? Vertigo can be caused by an inner ear infection. Is it worse when you stand up, or turn your head?

I'm not trying to diagnose you, these are just things you can think about before you talk to the GP. I'd have a think about when it hits you, what you've been doing just before, what you've eaten and drunk up to that point, so you can give the GP as much information as you can.

Are you hydrating properly? I definitely feel dizzy if I haven't drunk enough water especially if it's hot or I'm doing something active. There's also the comment you made about not eating enough?
