just finished week 7 (3 x25 mins) and starting to really enjoy running again ( well almost).
My normal route involves quite a bit of uphill country lanes and has tended to limit me to around 4.5 mph. In recent weeks I have taken a short drive to a local park for the final run of the week. This is mostly flat and interestingly has increased my average to just above 5 mph ( also run with a fitter friend on this one which definitely helps).
Turns out the uphill struggles have unconsciously been a blessing and is slowly increasing my leg strength and stability.
I have had niggles in every part of my legs along the way and slowed down when my body tells me to (also use knee straps which have been a saviour for 63 year old me!).
Overall though it is definitely your mindset that keeps you going!
I have still some way to go but the 5K goal is in site. As we head into the weekend my message would be “do whatever you can but don’t stop doing something and be proud that you didn’t give in to the little voice that doubts you”
And after a break from running am loving it again. I have not been brave enough to go outside yet and have so far completed it all on a treadmill. But next week I think I need a change if scenery!!! Well done you great achievement!!!
Keep going and as you said the strength to go on is all in your head !!
