I am now more confident running with my friends sister. My initial fear was of losing her as due to her condition she is easily distracted and can run a lot further than me. She is also a lot faster! We have had three runs now and each has been successful. This weekend we are planning to try without backup! My friend will stay at home and only jump in the car if needed. Her poor husband has been the one to suffer most as he has been following at a discrete distance on his bike which after a 20-year break in riding it has brought a few aches and pains. I must admit that his bike was built for speed rather than comfort.
Having bought her sister a treadmill at Christmas, my friend has now decided that she may as well give the C25K a go as she can do it at home while still looking after her sister and 3-year old daughter. Although originally not interested in running, she sees how happy it makes her sister and how I enjoy it so thinks it cant be as bad as she imagined. She is also half way there in persuading her poor husband to give it a go too.
We heard yesterday that my boyfriends ex-wife and her partner are giving up playing netball as they are finding it hard to keep up with the younger players and their club does not have a veterans team. So, they are also going to give running a go!
With a bit of luck, in a few months time, we may have our own running club. π
