After delaying for half of the morning, sitting with a cat in my lap, watering seeds in greenhouse, prepping veg, and generally not running I had a text from my daughter to say SHE had just run, what a lovely morning it was and if I wasn’t going to run did I want a nice long walk this afternoon.
I was almost putting it off until tomorrow then I looked at the forecast ( black clouds and rain for Monday ) do I put my big girl pants on ( plus leggings and tee shirt of course ) and I got out there. I’ve been putting it off by repeating wk5r1 four times and run 2 another three times but today I bit the bullet and loaded the run3 podcast.
It’s been so long that I was doubting myself and thinking “ I can always walk if I need to….” but I didn’t need to. I ran a different route to usual, or in the other direction if you will , to try to keep my mind off how long it was. The pavements were nice and dry, no wheelie or recycling bins in the way, hardly any pedestrians and I actually found myself enjoying it and was quite surprised when Laura said I’d run for 5 minutes!! The second 5 went just as quickly and then just after halfway I turned around and headed back again. I found that, after I glanced and saw it was 17 mins, the last 3 mins was hard but I knew I could do it. And I did!!!
Daft isn’t it that I have run for far longer in the past but todays run seems like a milestone in my recovery!! Looking forward to week 6 now. Nice shower when I got home and I might do some batch cooking now for the week ahead. I always feel more motivated and energised after a run.
and I’m glad to see my breathing is back to normal so much quicker now
