Need fuel? nope. 16 hours of fasting but not hungry or fatigued.
Coffee: check
The aim of the day was to jog for 28 minutes keeping it slow all the way. Also known as: enjoying the experience.
I thought I’d deviate from the usual safe path around the gardens where I live. Now the times are extending, so too is the distance. I have started going in circles and it’s beginning to feel a bit hamster-in-the-wheel-like. Time to go further afield.
Sure enough, I started out too fast but frequent checking of the watch kept me slow. Then I hit a hill and didn’t need the watch to take it slow up there. Lordy. Hills are hard work, aren’t they? I spent nearly 7 minutes slogging upwards. I’m pleased to say that I did manage to keep my breathing under control the whole way, but it got the heart hammering, so wasn’t quite the cloud-running experience (on a flat route) of the other day. But it didn’t feel too hard, either.
Slow ‘n’ steady as she goes.

I ignore it at my peril. I’m not a natural endurance athlete! I tend to climb best early on and then lose energy, whereas my climbing partner takes a while to warm up then gets stronger and stronger. I call her the Duracell bunny. It’s the same with the runs, it feels easy early on and therefore I don’t think I’m going too fast… so the watch helps keep me in check! It’s all about the slowness…
It's very cold, and very wet here, it's been that way for a while now, so the choice is get wet, or don't go🤷🏻♀️I did my first interval run on the NRC 10 km plan today, and forgot to pause my watch (so much to think about)
Next week will be tricky, I have an extra shift and the forecast is even worse. I'll just do what I can.
I used to start off too fast, but I think I have finally mastered to art of slow 🐌 🐌
