Hi everyone..I have just finished week 7 of C25k and when I started I couldn’t run more than 4-5 minutes , while following the plan I have always tried to run a little more than Laura has told me to pushing myself a little more each time .

Anyway I have ran three 5ks now still while listening to Laura but I keep going …my times average 34 minutes each time but today I got to 5.5k , I was a big walker before running but unfit , so anybody who has any doubts I say keep going and you will get there 💪…I never thought in a million years I could run 5k without stopping .

Week 8 tomorrow and I’m still going to finish the program and plan to run 5-6k twice a week

Anyway rant over lol any questions feel free to ask thanks (male 49 years)

Well done to you Tuxthepug1 on completing run 3 of week 7 but you should not have ran any more than for 25 minutes and not more than Laura told you, certainly not 5K or running for 34 minutes, by running more than Laura tells you, you risk injury, so no more running longer than the 3/28 minutes of week 8 or the 3/30 minute runs of week 9 or after you graduate the 6/30 minute consolidation runs, as I say if you keep running more than the program tells you, you risk injury, good luck for your graduation run 🏃🏾 😊 👍.

I appreciate the advice thank you AlMorr and I will probably just finish the program as intended…the one thing that has stuck with me is Laura says “to build fitness even if you feel like giving up is to keep going “ I wouldn’t advise anybody to do what I have done but I always stretch properly and warm up/down and after reading your bio you are more than qualified to comment and advise 👍💪

AlMorr is right ..sticking to the plan...staying injury free and enjoying. It's a great programme..why rush it?

Finish the plan.and then head over to the new What Next post..for loads of consolidation ideas.

If you take it gently... you may still be running here when you're as old as Al and I....

Well done you....maybe just ease back a tad? X

🤣🤣

I actually agree Oldfloss and you asked why I rushed it ? That’s me I,am afraid I was super fit 20 years ago and wanted to know if I could still do it !! But I will take your advice and thank you and AlMorr and follow the plan as intended…then push myself 👌💪

You do that! What is right for you..:)I was super fit too 40 years ago+...

But, I did my first HM at 69...pushing can be great but, for some...me included... slow and steady is just fine ...and now at 73...my fitness ain't bad!😉

I agree with Al definitely stick to the plan to avoid injury that may just put your running back a while. However well done on your great achievement.

But do take care and don’t peak too soon. You’ve got all the time in the world.👍👍.

Good luck.

When you get the running bug it's very hard to keep things in check. I followed the plan to the letter of the law, but don't think I had any more in me. Now having graduated, I feel like running further for longer and more frequently but i' m going to listen to the great advice we get on here :) instead I am going to have to satisfy myself with consolidation runs for a month or so. Listening to my body I do feel a little more tired and have a few more niggles than I had at the start and the last thing I want is to pick up an injury. You are doing brilliantly, but do take your time on building up stamina, it will really help you in the future :)

All the best!
