Running machine...? No thanks...😎😁

Despite the title of my post, I just wanted to applaud those of you who complete the C2-5K on a running machine. I completed the program road and trail running and now take part (on and off) in a local ParkRun. Last week I was on holiday and decided to take on my 5K run on one of the hotel's gym state of the art running machine.Despite setting a lower run pace than my normal 5K's, I found it quite a struggle and ended up stopping at 2.5K instead, more out of breath than normal.

So cudos to those warriors who achieve it πŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏπŸ‘πŸΏ, I'll stick to the roads and trails...πŸ˜‚

Treadmills can be a bit marmite! I prefer running outside but occasionally love a treadmill run. A run is a run is a run!

I wonder if you still had the treadmill at a slightly too fast pace? It’s a bit of a skill to keep to a conversational pace on a treadmill by adjusting the speed with the buttons instead of your feet. I mostly use them for faster runs because I still haven’t mastered that! It sounds like you’ve got a way to run that works for you so you might decide it’s just not worth investing time in practising treadmill running.

Running is big enough for us all to find what we love. β€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈβ€οΈ

I wholeheartedly agree! I find it SO much harder running on a treadmill. Possibly boredom, possibly overheating. Whatever the reason I often marvel at those who do the whole program on one and persist even after graduating - I just can’t do it.

I did my 30 mins on a treadmill and took it outside this week- only managed 15 minutes! Weird isn’t it?

I've never tried a treadmill but, from what I have read, it sounds like it is a completely different experience to running outside. I would imagine that transitioning from one to the other is bound to be difficult.

I thought that was just me! I can fun for 30 minutes in any park, but on a treadmill, I've never been able to!

I have not (yet) run on a treadmill either. It wasn't an option when I started as all the gyms were shut due to lockdown.
