I fell quite badly five or six weeks ago and was very nervous about running again but first thing this morning I decided to put on my shoes and give it a go. I was really apprehensive but I took it slowly - not that I'm ever especially quick! - and ran half of the parkrun course, including the gravel path where I had slid along on my face with such a crunch when I fell. I concentrated on picking up my feet properly - I'm sure that's the reason I fell so will work on that from now on - and I remembered all of the encouragement on this forum about giving it time but also getting out there again when I was ready. The piece of advice that I found the most helpful was from the person who said I should remember the hundreds of time I'd not fallen while running rather the one time I fell. That made a lot of sense as I was cautiously finding my way this morning. Thank you to everyone who helped me get back to my slow running again.

Well done … it took some determination to run in exactly the same place as you fell…glad it all ended in a positive way! 👏🤗

That is brilliant to read. (And I’m reading this a bit late). But having a fall can so knock your confidence and it takes determination to get that confidence back.
So well done for grabbing it and determinedly keeping at it. It sounds like you got this!
👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you - I haven't been for a second run since I posted about my first run - I keep kidding myself that it's because it's quite hot to run - but I will get back to it and hope to be doing my slow 5k a couple of times a week again. My ambition longer term is to do the the Manchester 10k next year - so I need to get cracking again soon!
