Hello to all (my first post). I finished W5R3 last Thursday. All my runs to that point had been on a treadmill. We went away for the weekend to the seaside and I thought it would be a good idea to repeat W5R3 outside as my first "real" run outside (it's nice and flat on the seafront!). It was a disaster - despite Steve Cram's warnings I set off too fast, got my breathing all wrong and walked a lot of it as a result. What I've since realised is that the treadmill sets a nice steady pace for me - I have to think about my pace when running outside! It's obvious now, but came as a revelation at the time. Anyway, this morning I got up, made sure I was hydrated and set off again. This time it went well and I completed my first successful outside run. I'm feeling rather chuffed and looking forward to W6R1 as the next step.

well done for completing wk 5, especially with the added challenge of new outside runs. I had some great advice after posting last week for starting wk 6, essentially take it easy going back to intervals. I went cautiously for Wk 6 runs 1 and no 2 this morning and so far feeling good. Hope you enjoy the liberating feeling of running outside, keep up the great work 🙌

sounds like you are succeeding to adapt to outside runs! I’m sure it will be great to have the option and choice in the future!
Well done!

Hello and well done! The video on slow running (somewhere here in health unlocked) helped me to understand what a gentle jog was and once I understood that it was much easier to keep a steady pace and be able to run for long enough 🏅 good luck with c25k
