hello all! I was a little concerned about posting as I didn’t believe I could even do week one! I have just completed week 2 and feel a little chink of hope that just maybe I can do this!! I’m 55, recently diagnosed with COPD. I haven’t run since school days and no excersise for years due to work, family and some lower back ache. mentally I’m feeling so much better and the lower back pain has disappeared 🤸‍♀️😁

Congratulations on starting - that is the hardest bit I think, sucking up the courage for that first run!

Well done!! So glad you have posted as you will encourage someone else just starting as well as those still thinking about doing it! Follow the plan and you can definitely do it and enjoy it too. The hardest part is starting and you have nailed that!! 🎉

If there was a contest here for "Most unlikely at beginning to ever graduate" - there would be very stiff competition 🙂I don't know if any of us thought we could ever run like we do now. If we had thought we could run, we wouldn't have felt the need for a programme lol.

If you go back inbthe Forum and read the early posts of graduates, you will see a striking similarity between them - all the uncertainty, doubts, apprehension etc 🙂

And yet, here we are now - absolute proof the programme will work 🙂

Don't worry about speed or time, I took about 16 weeks to graduate and have never managed to do 5k in 30 minutes...but I have had so much fun in the last seven years I couldn't care less about how "slow" I am 🙂

Take it slow, steady and at your own pace and odfs are that sooner than you probably can believe now you too will see "graduate" beside your name 🙂👍🏻

Hi

If it helps I am 57 Asthmatic I am currently on Week 8!

My 1st run on Monday wasn’t good as Asthma was playing up but still got out there!

Well done 👏 for gettIng out there!

It will help you with your breathing! There will be days when you feel your going backwards but I have found if I take my releaver before my run it helps!

Not sure if they have given you inhalers to manage your COPD!

Keep ing your lung’s moving is very important Exercise will definitely help!

👏 Well done 👏
