On Monday I did my first 30 minute run of week9. It went really well and I was full of optimism about graduating. So what's gone wrong? This morning I did all the usual dynamic stretches, the 5 minute walk and started running at a nice steady pace. 1km done, great, then uphill. Now this is a hill I've done a few times already and I just settled into the very slow jog. Half way up I could feel a slight twinge in the left achilles area. It's nothing, I thought, nearly there, then it's downhill or on the flat to the end. Oh dear, what a bad decision to continue that was. I finished in our local park, so I did my stretches there before walking home, thinking I could stretch out the twinge. Nope didn't work. Since showering and resting, it's got worse. I'm OK until I stand up to walk, which is unpleasant to say the least. I've searched old posts about Achilles and see heel lift exercises promoted and heel wedges for the running shoes. So graduation feels like it's faded into the distance, it was only 1 run away too. I tell myself it's only a temporary lay-up, but honestly, this is going to be days or more like weeks before I can run again. I've really got addicted to this running lark and I really wouldn't have thought that possible before I started C25K. Truly gutted, particularly as I've been a keen student to the program following all the advice and tips 😢 😞

On the injury couch, gutted!
It is temporary and it does happen... even to elite athletes.... the fact that you have done things to the letter, sometimes, many times, matters not..
I am a snail of caution, and the belt and braces school... and it has happened to me, more than once.
The runs will wait... and your Achilles will heal...do give the injury? chance to settle ... rest and follow normal injury guidelines and then maybe look at some gentle exercise for that heel...
There are plenty out there...

It may be a good idea if you can sort out an appointment with a local sports physio
