Running and gout

Hi all.

I tried C25K last year but had to stop due to knees swelling. Turned out to be related to fact I was suffering with Gout. 4 months later (after getting on meds to address the gout) I'm back on the programme and just keeping a close eye on any joint inflammation. Anyone else in the same boat (or maybe something similar in terms of easily inflamed joints) with any tips on how to manage this while still running/completing c25k?

Thanks

Hi Jambo78,

When I started C25K 4 years ago I had problems with my feet which turned out to be gout.

Since I have been on medication (Allopurinol), I'm happy to say that I've had no more problems and am now on my third trip through the program.

Good luck and enjoy your running.

Great to hear a fellow sufferer is succeeding. I'm on allo too. Just going with trial and error on any inflamation for now but so far so good.....up to start of wk 7.
