Start running
Hello and welcome to the forum and the program. If you're currently experiencing a gout attack, you shouldn't exercise until your pain and inflammation are reduced. If you're new to exercise or haven't exercised in a long time, talk to your doctor before starting the program.
Then have a read of the program guide .
It's full of crucial advice to help get you through the program.

Hope that helps !
Gout usually can be controlled with the correct medication. i used to have regular attacks and it is so debilitating. but daily meds keep it at bay. i am overweight too. so begin with some walking and lighter low impact work. lose some lbs and increase your stamina, then progress to the running. even if running is still out of reach a brisk walk. i can and have walked 5k many time now in just 2 months.. and can do a 45-50 min 5k just brisk walking. my plan is to do the running now i have some greater baseline fitness. you need to do you.. if you say you cant then you wont. if you say you can well you might just do it.
good luck. drop in here and get motovated.
yes i dont have a clue on forums.. so just clicked reply. will they see it ?
Yes they will because I tagged them in my reply to you 😁Stick around , post more and join in !
We are a friendly bunch 😁
You must have ticked reply under my comments rather than reply to the original post
And a great reply it is too 👍
I think about getting out there but it's that motivation where u think about doing but u keep putting it off I'm getting to a stage where I think people start laughing at me because I'm fat I know it's in my head but how can I over come it
Please read the guide to the plan linked to by Instructor57 It has reassurance that many people feel just like you but then realise that it is entirely in their heads.
What do you think when you see someone who looks like you running?
You can do this, if you really want to.
Well thats how alot of us oveweight people feel. Like we are going to be judged or mocked. The reality is quite different. Most people you cross will either give a polite nod or hello or nothing at all. try early mornings barely a sole about anyway. but in the longrun or walk .. (see what i did there) you need to get over this self imposed obstacle... I did. You can too.
I used to think that about the gym.. everyone will be fit and i need to get fitter before i go show my face (body really). how silly really. self defeating circle.
try a short walk rinse repeat.. build on it.
Some good advice here about getting started !I remember when I started I was also nervous about behind seen !
But it soon became obvious that most don't even see you at all !
They are too wrapped up in their own world .
The ones that do notice will probably just give a polite nod or hello !
Infact I made a point of doing that to everyone I met !
The hardest part of this journey could be getting out of the door !
But believe me, you will feel so much better when you do and there will always be people here to cheer you on !
Iv just held my head high and I've just done the first step and done my first walk and run and now I feel silly about the way ive been thinking. I've been reading about how people feel and it brought back things when I went through a bad time some years ago and I don't want to go through that again so I got up put that podcast on and got out there
Oh very well done, that first outing takes courage and you’ve done it! you won’t have to do the first run again 😊
Very well done!! It's not an easy step to take, and you have done it. I started the programme on new years day, having always suffered with anxiety I found the fear of going out (people judging me rather than agoraphobia!) stopped me on a couple of days and almost stopped me many times since, it took a few weeks but I realised that no one is looking at me, and if they do it has been to say hi or its been a knowing smile from a fellow jogger - it does get easier stick with it, and well done again on that first step you wont look back!
Excellent! You've done it! W1R1 done.
As for motivation: What helps me is marking the runs in my calendar, so I see progress. You see the W(eek)R(un) count increase and that - at least for me - gets one over the gremlins that tell you to stay home.
Looking forward to reading about your second run.
It's killed my ankles but that could be due to not having a lot of calcium over the years so I need to bust that up
I feel like it's gave me something to go anw step forward
Sorry ato gor for
I don't know what's h with my text
You're flat footed. So am I.
Do you have any corrective insoles?
If you try to run with uncorrected flat feet you're going to have an even harder time of it due to the hugely inefficient gait: knees going inwards and legs windmilling out to the sides. This was me as a kid.
Hi I am 57 have gout controlled by medication and I am on week 6 of C25K it is possible, take advice and follow the program. PS I am also obese, the exercise is helping me to lose weight. Good luck and once you get into it you can do it.
Oh well done Num1mart1, you’ve got the first one out of the way….. I can only echo what everyone else has said that people are generally so caught up in their own world that they are not really paying much attention beyond a brief ‘good morning ‘. Just take it slow, walk until you feel ready to run and give yourself a big pat on the back for getting out the door. That really is the hardest part!! 😊
