Hi there all; just reporting from the slow end* - I consolidated for a couple of weeks after graduation then started the Bridge to 5k plan - healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

My next run (tomorrow if all goes well) is the 2nd 35-minute run (so the end of week 2). I got out there yesterday - see photo - though it was really windy and it felt like wading through treacle trudging my way round for 30 minutes. Oddly, looking at the times it was actually not much slower than normal - it just felt that way! I'm also going to the gym to do a weights workout 2x per week and my legs are letting me know about it, particularly the fronts of my thighs - no idea what the muscles are called.

Still on track for a Park Run in a few weeks; hope the weather is better by then - this windy weather is awful! Mind you, I do live in West Shore Llandudno which is an exceptionally windy place!

Thanks all for support xxxx

Languid Lil

* but I keep reminding myself that the slow end of running is still better than the fast end of the couch

The slow end is a great place to be, and full of fun if your lovely photos are anything to go by!

Those treacle-legged runs are tough. Well done for getting through. You’re doing all the right things-consolidating, progressing at a realistic and sensible rate, strength work enjoying the runs. So much to be proud of! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Well done getting out in this weather, and never think you're alone at the 'slow end' - there's loads of us bobbing about there! Also familiar is the "I wasn't as slow as it felt" feeling - only yesterday I had the Toxic 10 at the start of my run and believed I'd trudged round, only to find that Strava reported one of my faster km/hr paces.

Warning: Parkrun is like a benign tube of Pringles (other reformed potato sludge is available) - I guarantee you'll love it once you 'pop' the lid on it 😊! I'm off to my local one right now...

You are so right!!

When I first completed C25K I got pulled into the ‘must get faster’ mindset but to be honest these days I’m happy to be running at all and who cares how long it takes - we all get the same medal or achievement at the end!!

I hope you have a great parkrun when you get there!
