Hi everyone,
I am new to this, and so looking forward to catching up with people at different stages of their journey. It is tricky to be doing it on your own. I recently had a dxer scan which showed up osteopenia, quite common in a lady of 66 but wanted to know how I could halt the progression and, to my surprise, the doctor’s face lit up when I mentioned taking up running, and highly recommended it! So here I am just beginning W4C25K. Going ok at the moment but I lack confidence and self belief so need to work on that. It will be so interesting to read everyone’s comments and advice. Thank you for reading.
Welcome to the forum! We’re a really friendly bunch of all ages and backgrounds-it’s great to have you here. When you see what you can achieve, that self belief will come. Take it step by step and you’ll get there.
There’s a brilliant little guide to the programme here with lots of helpful hints and tips. Well worth a read. Most important is keeping it slow and steady at a pace where you can talk in full sentences without gasping. Most of us go too fast! Recovery days between runs are absolutely essential too.

Snap! Same age as you and also just been diagnosed with osteopenia. (Been on high dosage steroids for 7 months which may have attributed to it!) I'm seeing my doctor next month to discuss way forward. I am doing couch to 5 K for 3rd time, but this time joined Beginners2runners via facebook and nice to be part of a club. Taking D3 and K2 plus running, so hope this can reverse the bone issue. Good luck!
Wishing you loads of luck with the running and the health issuetuiliere . Lovely to have you around here again. ❤️
Beistol I think this reply’s for you!
